Indications
Dutanol is used in the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate.
How to use
Do not crush or chew capsules. It must be swallowed whole as it may cause irritation of the oropharyngeal mucosa. Dutanol can be taken with or without food. Usual adult dose is 1 capsule (0.5 mg) taken once daily. Do not take more Dutanol than is indicated at the label without consulting a doctor. Continue to take this medicine even if you feel well, do not stop taking without talking to the doctor.
Prescription
Dutanol should not be used by nursing women. It is not known whether dutasteride is excreted in human milk. Avodart is contraindicated for use in pediatric patients. Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
